18. -19. April 2008 - Zentrum für Europäische Wirtschaftsforschung (ZEW), Mannheim. Der fachbezogenen Kommunikation kommt heute eine entscheidende Bedeutung zu. CNCTST Hosted The Second Conference on Chinese Terminology

On 8-10 August 2007, China National Committee for Terms in Sciences and Technologies(CNCTST) and Heilongjiang University hosted The Second Conference on Chinese Terminology in Harbin, China. About 40 experts from universities, publish houses and CNCTST attended the conference.

2nd IN-SAFETY WORKSHOP - TOWARDS A FORGIVING AND SELF-EXPLANATORY EUROPE

To achieve forgiving roads in Europe, the EU co-funded IN-SAFETY project has investigated the combination of new technologies with existing infrastructure to improve road safety. Numerous cooperative solutions have been analysed, including in-vehicle speed alerts based on information provided by road-side beacons and cooperative lane-departure warnings, and from these, six scenarios have been selected, elements of which will be tested in real and simulated trials around Europe.

The work on self-explanatory roads has essentially focused on preparing recommendations for harmonised road signing (electronic and static) in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual Europe.

Dr. Alan Melby Receives the Prestigious Eugen Wüster Prize

At the recent ISO Technical Committee 37 meetings in Provo, Utah, it was announced that long-time LISA Member and Contributor, Dr. Alan Melby (along with Teresa Cabré), had received the 2007 Eugen Wüster Prize for dedication and contributions to the field of terminology.

Localization industry standard for terminology submitted for adoption by ISO TC37/SC3

The Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA) (http://www.lisa.org) announces that it has entered into a licensing agreement with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to submit its Term-Base eXchange (TBX) standard (http://www.lisa.org/standards/tbx/) for adoption as an ISO standard under ISO fast-track ballot procedures.
