Well-known researcher and expert in the fields of natural language processing (NLP) cognitive informatics and Knowledge Base approaches. He is Professor of Computer Science at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), where he founded in 1998 the Korea Terminology Research Center for Language and Knowledge Engineering (KORTERM), which became member of Infoterm in 2000. He was also instrumental in establishing EAFTerm, the East Asia Forum on Terminology, and ISO/TC 37/SC 4 “Language resource management".
