Infoterm member Latin Union organizes The Theory, Practice and the Methodology of Specialized Translation International Conference

The Faculty of Letters (Department of French Language and Literature), University of Craiova and the Latin Union organize The Theory, Practice and the Methodology of Specialized Translation International Conference to be held in Craiova between 28-29 May, 2009. The working languages of the conference are French and Romanian.

The goal of the conference is to enhance the dialogue among students, teachers and translators from a market-oriented approach. The conference comprises three sections, two round tables and workshops where the professionals in the translation field  (university-based teachers and  translation theorists/researchers engaged in translator training and translation research programmes) will have the opportunity to communicate and exchange their ideas and experience in the theory and practice  of specialized translation.

The papers will be focused  on the following topics:

  • Theories of specialized  translation
  • Typology of specialized texts and strategies of specialized translation
  • The Methodology of Specialized Translation
  • Translator training
  • Specialized translation in Romania: the status of the specialized translator, supply and demand on the market

The conference addresses to those interested in the all-encompassing field of specialized translation:
