Mélanie Maradan

Translator and terminologist, since 2011 external relations representative of the Universal Esperanto Association (UEA) in the field of terminology.

Ms Maradan holds an M.A. in translation and terminology (German, English and French) from the University of Geneva. She has worked in various settings in her home country (Switzerland) and abroad both as an in-house and freelance translator-terminologist. In 2009-2010 she assisted in the launching of the ISO Concept Database (CDB) at the Central Secretariat of ISO.

She has been external relations representative in the field of terminology for the Universal Esperanto Association (UEA) since 2011 and is currently working at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting (FTI) of the University of Geneva and starting PhD research.

Her interest for Esperanto and conscious intervention in language dates back to 2008, when she won a language contest by becoming perfectly fluent in the planned language within a mere few months. She has been playing an active role in the Esperanto language community since, co-organizing conferences on terminology and Esperanto studies and as a board member of the scientific journal Scienca Revuo.
